The problem would not appear to be anywhere near as much a problem were it not for idiotic reputation measurement methods (ie stats abuse).AveryAndrewshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17701162517596420514noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5275657281509261156.post-366379934227555172015-06-16T21:43:52.110-07:002015-06-16T21:43:52.110-07:00Yes, it's not a good thing to do, but put this...Yes, it's not a good thing to do, but put this into the hands of the fraud police? But given the strong incentives to publish (or perish), and given that there is a premium on pages in (good) journals, I can see how this problem would fit in with the others. It's kind of like faking reputation rather than data. Although it doesn't mislead like faked or cooked data, it does, like stolen data, take up publication space in a problematic way.Noah Motionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00150446498549219747noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5275657281509261156.post-67819305198900233992015-06-16T19:12:07.339-07:002015-06-16T19:12:07.339-07:00It's not the same kind of problem as the other...It's not the same kind of problem as the other three. Do you mean that you can't fathom how this could be one of the main problems in science? Or do you mean that you don't think it's a problem to publish the same thing in multiple venues?Noah Motionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00150446498549219747noreply@blogger.com
